The Present Political Practice is making our would-be Leaders/Politicians spend too much money especially during the elections.
It tends to breed corruption. Thus, every Government official, both at the Local, State and Federal levels is perceive to be corrupt. In this country, some of the Elected Officials/Politicians are engaged in all kinds of atrocities such as election rigging, character assassination and blackmail of political rivals rather than raise issues of Public Welfare as enshrined in section 14 (2A & of the 1999 constitution as amended. The officials themselves live a life style that their genuine income cannot justify. All these must stop if we must Develop as a Nation.

The system has produced Masters rather than Leaders who are only indebted to their God fathers & family members rather than the welfare of the masses through participative democracy as enshrine in section 14 (2c) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
1. That the political future of Delta State rests squarely in the hands of the people of Delta State and not in the hands of a selfish few who have always decided the political future of Delta State and her people.
2. That the only way to return Delta State to the people is through mass mobilization and mass participation in the political process and not by cynicism, despondency and political abstinence.
3. That the culture of making ‘political leaders’ and ‘godfathers’ out of those who only dole out money to a selfish few to secure political support is the root cause of underdevelopment of the State.
4. That the urgent reconstruction and development of our State by a trusted and competent Leader is far more compelling and important than the insistence on future leadership emerging from a particular ethnic group. After all, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, never focused on Ikenne his home town, but on the entire defunct Western Region and hence he remains a Political Idol till date.

Remember, if we fail to rejig the present system, and we continue to do things in the same old way, using the same people, then we cannot expect a different result.
