This is to inform all Deltans that the Federal High Court, sitting at Asaba ,Delta State, this morning, Friday 1st March 2013, sacked Hon. Alphosus Ojo representing Ukwani Local Government Area (LGA) in the Delta State House of Assembly (LGA). As a consequence, the Court declared his seat vacant for decamping from the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) that fielded him for the election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Independent National Electoral Commission has been ordered to conduct a bye-election to fill his vacant seat forthwith. The DPP will ensure that a thoroughly qualified person is elected in the bye-election.

The DPP has consistently maintained that elected representatives who chose to pay our electorate with disloyalty, backstabbing and mercantile politics will pay dearly for it. Today’s judgment is the result we have to show for that unwavering commitment. We are particularly grateful to the Ukuani people who stood their grounds alongside our party in rejecting the brazen dishonour of Honourable Ojo in the context of his insulting decampment to PDP.

DPP remains focused like a laser beam on Uvwie LGA where Hon. Ofobruku similarly jumped ship. Every turncoat will be made to understand that the DPP as a party will carefully study and activate dormant laws in defence of its basic principles. The party will deploy every instrument of the law to maintain discipline and a clear focus on the direction we are headed. The party’s interests will always prevail; not personal ambitions hatched with or underpinned by commercial motivations.

It is pertinent to advise ourselves to reject the temptation of playing to the gallery in these crucial times. We must tread wisely, carefully and with undoubted loyalty to the basic principles and objectives of the party. This is not a luxurious expectation on the part of the people who daily yearn for positives alternatives to the recklessness of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.

This is the result of fielding moni conscious individuals to represent a party that has good vision and mission. DPP should not look towards good individual that have vision and integrity to field, not through public primaries but internal debate with in the presence of LGA and STATE EXCO and choose based on concensus.

Allowing candidate to spend his livelihood in a bid to contest to win and the party men were just happy collecting moni NOW the Decamping for more moni and recognition from d disgruntled but ruling party.

Pls, let DPP. Make the selection process simple and devoid of extra but basic funds from candidates so that pur, loyal and transparent candidate that will drive the vision of the party anywhere and everywhere, will emerge!

Thanks Oga Efe for the good work, thus far!

    Victory is soon!
